In April, a few gutsy kayakers competed in a whitewater race that included several Class V waterfalls surrounded by sheer cliff near Rangeley, Maine.

The Smalls to the Wall race, held at Smalls Falls on the Sandy River, was just about an eighth-of-a-mile long, but included 60 feet of vertical drop over six waterfalls. And it lent itself to some great photos and video footage. This was the first year for the Smalls to the Wall race, and hopefully it’s the first of many thrilling events.
