More than 50 surfers gathered at Long Sands Beach in York, Maine, Sunday morning to honor a young surfer who died after battling leukemia.
The fifth annual Big Andrew Surf Competition honored Andrew Gmelch, who died at age 15 in 2007. The event is organized by Gmelch’s friends, Ryan and Ian Knowles, and funds raised by the event are donated to patient care at York Oncology. (READ MORE)
