screech owlA woman in Sennett, New York, recently helped save a starving screech owl she came upon while she was snowshoeing, according to an article on Syracuse.com.

Brenda Kehoskie was reportedly snowshoeing with her dog in the woods on her property when she found the owl about 10 feet off the trail. She brought it to a wildlife rehab center, where the bird is recovering.

Officials at the rehab center said Kehoskie was the ninth person to report finding a bird that week. They said owls are starving because the deep snow is keeping them from finding mice and other food.
