Despite deep snow and abnormally cold temperatures this winter, the whitetail deer herd in the Adirondacks is holding strong, according to an article on PostStar.com.
Officials with New York’s Department of Environmental Conservation say they have been checking deer populations, and they’ve recently found the region’s herd has avoided widespread mortality. However, they reported that if spring is late in arriving, the deer herd could still suffer.
