woods 2If you can pen a good essay, you could win your own chunk of the Maine woods.

A landowner in Whitefield, Maine, is holding an essay contest with the prize being 47 wooded acres along Maine’s Route 218. It’s $100 to enter the Maine Land Essay contest, and essays should be no more than 200 words.

According to an article on PressHerald.com, Martha Manchester, who has owned the land since 1994, said she hopes to make more than the fair market value for the land, but she also wanted to give people who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford so much land an opportunity to win the property.
