New details are emerging in the case of a woman accused of killing her fiancé while the couple kayaked on the Hudson River in April.
Angelika Graswald, 35, has been indicted on a second-degree murder charge in the death of Vincent Viafore near Bannerman Island on April 19. Viafore’s body was reportedly found in the river last weekend. Days later, on Tuesday, prosecutors revealed new details in the case.
According to an article on NYTimes.com, prosecutors say that as Viafore struggled in the frigid water and reached for his paddle, Graswald reportedly moved it away. Besides adding that she was allegedly slow to call for help, prosecutors say Graswald removed the plug from Viafore’s kayak so it would fill with water. And, they say, she also tampered with his paddle.
