A bear that officials say exhibited bold and aggressive behavior toward a hiker at Sessions Woods Wildlife Management Area in Burlington, Connecticut, has been euthanized, according to an article on NHRegister.com.

Wildlife staff also euthanized a second bear, a female one, Tuesday that charged at DEEP personnel, officials said.

The killing of the bear that encountered the hiker last week comes after a petition asking officials to spare the bear’s life received over 40,000 signatures.
