A 12-year-old boy was killed and his uncle injured when an 800-pound rock fell near a popular waterfall they were admiring in the Adirondacks on Sunday.

According to an article on Syracuse.com, the boy and his uncle were hiking and had stopped to look at Roaring Brook Falls in Keene Valley, New York. As they did, a rock reportedly weighing between 800 and 900 pounds dislodged and fell roughly 30 feet, striking the two. The boy was reportedly crushed against a downed tree.
