Three ambitious projects currently being proposed would create some of the longest stretches of hiking and biking trails in northern New Jersey.

According to an article on NorthJersey.com, conservation groups are close to securing a key piece of land that would allow them to create a trail linking two of the region’s largest parks – New Jersey’s Ramapo Reservation and Harriman State Park in New York.

Another plan being proposed would convert an old rail line into a trail that runs through the Northern Valley. A third proposal being considered would turn the defunct Morris Canal into a 102-mile pathway from the Hudson River to the Delaware River.
