Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom is known to be one of the most beautiful regions in the Northeast. Its miles of wooded trails make it a popular destination for mountain bikers and hikers. But it also offers a tremendous variety of paddling opportunities for canoeists and kayakers.
NorthStarMonthly.com recently profiled the Northeast Kingdom’s paddling scene. The region is home to many large, scenic, largely-undeveloped lakes, including Maidstone Lake, Lake Mephremagog’s South Bay and Echo Lake.
There’s also great paddling to be found on some of the larger, more developed lakes in the area, such as Lake Willoughby and Lake Seymour. And the Northeast Kingdom is home to several rivers that offer wonderful paddling, including the Connecticut River, Passumpsic River and Moose River.
