Each year, a tiny town on Maine’s northeast border hosts a race that is big on adventure.

The East Grand Adventure Race has participants navigate off-trail using a compass, mountain bike a 10-mile course, and paddle 8 miles down a scenic waterway. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

The event also includes mud crawls, log rolling, a paintball challenge and more.

The year marks the 12th year for the East Grand Adventure Race, which will be held in Danforth, Maine on May 13. The event is open to both adults and teens.
