If you like your races to be painful sufferfests, then the annual Uphill Climb at Maine’s Sugarloaf Resort is for you.

The race has competitors climb roughly 2,400 vertical feet from Sugarloaf’s base to its summit as fast as they can. It is considered by many to be the toughest mountain race in Maine.

This year’s Uphill Climb will be held on October 8. Registration is $55 and the event begins at 11 a.m.
