The Mount Washington Avalanche Center is warning visitors to Mount Washington to be aware of the threat of early season avalanches after a human-triggered avalanche on the mountain last Friday.
No one was injured in the avalanche, but MWAC officials described it as a “close call.”

The avalanche occurred Friday in the Central Gully area of Huntington Ravine. Officials said the wind slap measured up to about 18 inches in depth.
The center issued an advisory following the avalanche reminding visitors that given the strong winds on the mountain, dangerous avalanches are possible even with relatively small amounts of snow.
