With Congressional leaders at an impasse over the federal budget, the U.S. Office of Management and Budget has ordered Maine’s Acadia National Park to begin shutdown procedures.

According to an article on BangorDailyNews.com, people can still use the park. But they are advised to use “extreme caution,” as they will not receive emergency help from park staff. A spokesperson for Acadia said visitors who have an emergency will need to call 911, if they can get cell service.

The park could furlough 79 employees, going from 94 to 15.
