boltonThe Vermont Land Trust today announced they have successfully raised the $1.85 million needed to conserve 1,100 acres of backcountry skiing and hiking land for public use.

In February 2011, the land was threatened with being sold to a private owner, which could have meant no more public access. The land is known among outdoor enthusiasts for having prime cross-country skiing trails, having a section of the famed long-distance Catamount Trail, and being an important wildlife corridor between Mount Mansfield State Park and Camel’s Hump State Park.

The land will now become part of Mount Mansfield State Forest. (READ MORE)
