A skier who was reported missing on New York’s Whiteface Mountain last Wednesday has been found in California.

According to an article on TimesUnion.com, Toronto firefighter Constantinos “Danny” Filippidis, 49, contacted local authorities in Sacramento, California, ending a massive search for him.

Filippidis was reported missing last Wednesday by other Toronto firefighters who were making their annual ski trip to Whiteface. He was last seen Wednesday afternoon, and his disappearance coincided with a snowstorm on the mountain that caused poor visibility.

For six days, crews searched the area for Filippidis. The search included at least six government agencies, two ski patrols and several local volunteers. Helicopters and search dogs were also used in the search.

State police say Filippidis’ car was still at Whiteface and he was reportedly found in Sacramento still wearing the ski clothes he disappeared in. Officials say the circumstances of the case are still under investigation.
