East Coast Greenway Alliance Photo

A group of cycling advocates are steadily working on a plan to build what is essentially the bike path equivalent of the Appalachian Trail.

An article on CityLab.com recently profiled the East Coast Greenway Alliance, which is working to connect a network of protected bike paths running the length of the entire East Coast, from Maine to Florida.

The group has been working on the project since 1991 and is currently about 31 percent complete.
