You could spend New Year’s Day laying on your couch nursing a hangover. Or, you could spend the first day of the year enjoying the outdoors while hiking one of New Hampshire’s best trails.

For those who choose the latter, New Hampshire officials are organizing several First Day hikes to be held throughout the Granite State.

New Hampshire’s First Day hikes are free, organized, family-friendly hikes held at historic sites and state parks. These hikes will be held at Monadnock State Park, Weeks State Park, Wellington State Park, Silver Lake State Park and Wentworth-Coolidge Mansion State Historic Site.
