New Hampshire Fish and Game officials say a hiker is recovering after he slid off a trail on New Hampshire’s Mount Chocorua on Thursday and couldn’t move because of ice and steep terrain.

John Ng, 21, of Wakefield, Massachusetts, was reportedly able to call 911 after sliding off the trail. Rescuers weren’t able to reach him until five hours later, and, when they found him, he was reportedly suffering from hypothermia and frostbite.

Rescuers were able to give Ng additional clothes, socks and another pair of shoes. He was also given food and warm fluids and was then able to make it to a nearby cabin, where he was then taken by snowmobile to an ambulance.
