A hiker missing since Sunday in the Adirondack High Peaks Wilderness has been found dead.

According to an article on AdirondackDailyEnterprise.com, the body of the hiker, Skip Baker, was found in the East Branch of the AuSable River near the base of Upper and Lower Wolfjaw mountains in the Adirondacks’ Great Range.

Officials said it is unclear whether he drowned or died from trauma caused by falling. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.

A large scale search for Baker was undertaken by state Department of Environmental Conservation forest rangers. Today’s search included 17 forest rangers, an assistant forest ranger and a state police aviation unit helicopter.
