A hiker had to be rescued in Bartlett, New Hampshire Friday night after not bringing a light along on a sunset hike.
According to New Hampshire Fish and Game officials, the hiker, Saima Firdoos, 37, of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, said she hiked to Diana’s Baths, a popular hiking spot in Bartlett, and stayed to watch the foliage and setting sun.
However, officials said Firdoos had brought no light or navigational aids with her, and when she left Diana’s Baths she took the wrong trail headed in the opposite direction away from her vehicle.
After receiving a 911 call at 6:30 p.m. the dispatch service placed Firdoos about 1.5 miles from the parking area on the Red Ridge Trail. But without a light, she couldn’t hike out on her own.
A team of rescuers found her unharmed at 8:32 p.m.
