You probably don’t know that Maine’s Piscataquis County has more than 100 scenic waterfalls. And that’s the problem.

Maine tourism officials are boosting efforts to raise awareness of the county’s many waterfalls to draw more tourists to the area. Piscataquis County can already boast being home to places such as Baxter State Park, the 100-Mile Wilderness, Gulf Hagas and Moosehead Lake. But it’s also the poorest county in the state. And, in an effort to market the area as an eco-tourism destination, officials are creating a new website and trail guides to help visitors enjoy the area’s waterfalls. (READ MORE)
