The governor of New Jersey has announced that all of the state’s parks, forests and historic sites will be closed until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced yesterday that the closure would begin last night at 8 p.m.

The closure includes all park lots, grounds, facilities, trails and playgrounds.

Hiking is specifically prohibited. All parks gates and entrances are closed and use of trails is prohibited.

The governor said New Jersey State Park Police will patrol park areas to ensure people are following this directive.

As of April 7, New Jersey had 44,416 cases and 1,232 deaths related to the virus, according to NJ1015.com.
