New York officials are planning improvements to public access and facilities at three campgrounds in the Adirondacks.

The draft plans for Limekiln Lake, Eighth Lake and Lake Durant campgrounds are currently available for public review and comment. The plans identify facilities and infrastructure to be upgraded or replaced during the next five years to enhance recreational opportunities. Department of Environmental Conservation officials are accepting public comment until April 8.

Proposed upgrades at Limekiln Lake Campground include converting eight existing campsites into universal campsites, rehabilitating overused campsites and replacing worn picnic tables and fireplaces, and repairing a dam.

Upgrades being proposed for Eighth Lake Campground include building new shower buildings, improving overused campsites and resurfacing campground roads.

At Lake Durant Campground, improvements would include restoring campsite, rehabbing a fishing pier and constructing a new shower building.
