If you’ve been watching the Winter Olympics, one winter sport you won’t be seeing is snow kayak racing.

That’s a shame, because it’s a fun sport to watch. And it’s even more fun to take part in.

Whether you want to watch snow kayak racing or try paddling over the powder yourself, you’ll get that chance on Saturday, March 3. That’s when the annual Boat Bash Snow Crash will be held at Veteran’s Memorial Ski Area in Franklin, New Hampshire.

The event is put together by supporters of Mill City Park, a proposed park in Franklin that would provide for such recreational opportunities as mountain biking and whitewater paddling.

Boat Bash participants can register as racers ($25), sledders ($15) or spectators ($15). Racers participant in the race portion of the event and have all-day access to the mountain. Sledders get mountain access during the open sledding period, while spectators get to enjoy the event without the threat of tumbling down the mountain in a boat.

Participants don’t need to bring their own kayaks and helmets. Boats, helmets and paddles will be provided by Outdoor New England and Blackfly Canoes.
