Camping will not be allowed at Twin Lakes Recreation Area in Wilcox, Pennsylvania this year, and the park’s main bathhouse will remain closed.

According to Allegheny National Forest officials, the decision to not allow camping at Twin Lakes this year is not a decision to close the area. But they are gathering information about the future of the park.

Forest officials say they currently do not have the funding to address problems with the wastewater treatment system that led to Twin Lakes’ early closure last September.

Twin Lakes will remain open to day uses such as fishing, swimming, hiking and picnicking during 2018.

According to forest officials, the national forest has had a 12 percent reduction in recreation funding since 2015.
