New Jersey state police say the manager of an Appalachian Mountain Club lodge along the Appalachian Trail in New Jersey lied about an armed robbery at the lodge earlier this month to cover her own thefts.

The manager originally reported that two masked gunmen, one armed with a gun, hit the Mohican Outdoor Center in Hardwick Township on a Monday morning and demanded cash, checks and credit cards.

But now, according to an article on LehighValleyLive.com, police believe she lied about the robbery to cover for months of her own thefts totaling more than $5,000.
