Billionaire and philanthropist David Rockefeller turned 100 on June 12. But it is Maine that received a present.

Rockefeller marked his birthday by donating 1,000 acres on Mount Desert Island to the people of Maine.

According to an article on WABI.tv, the Rockefellers have made their summer home on Mount Desert Island for more than a century. The land, located between Seal and Northeast Harbors, was donated to the Land and Garden Preserve of Mount Desert Island. It includes the Rockefeller family’s boathouse and miles of trails.
