New York officials are planning to make significant changes to backcountry camping around Saranac Lakes Wild Forest.

The state’s Department of Environmental Conservation has released a plan that calls for closing some popular campsites, opening new campsites, and changing rules for group camping.

According to an article on AdirondackDailyEnterprise.com, changes would hit popular camping areas such as Floodwood Road near Saranac Inn and Little Green Pond near the DEC fish hatchery in Lake Clear.
