For the second time in less than a month, a hiker has died at New York’s Kaaterskill Falls.
According to an article on RegisterStar.com, hiker Marcy Yates, 56, of Westfield, New Jersey, slipped and fell 100 feet into a ravine near Kaaterskill Creek on Friday, August 19. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
It’s the same spot where just last month, on July 27, Ezra Kennedy, 17, also of Westfield, New Jersey, slipped near the falls and fell roughly 50 feet to his death.
The area near the falls recently received nearly a half million dollars in upgrades and safety improvements after two women died in separate accidents at the falls in 2014.
