The Adirondacks will have a central role in a primetime NBC televsion show next week.

Famed NBA big man Shaquille O’Neal and television survivalist Bear Grylls filmed an episode of “Running Wild with Bear Grylls” in the Adirondacks earlier this summer, and the episode will air Monday, August 29 at 10 p.m. on NBC.

The episode will reportedly have the two surviving in the Adirondack wilderness and dealing with leeches and steep cliffs.

In July, the Burlington Free Press reported that Shaq and Grylls were “filming a stunt” on the New York side of Lake Champlain.

Of course, while it is billed as a reality show, the reality behind what you’ll be seeing is highly questionable. Grylls has been known to overdramatize and even fake survival situations. He apologized in 2008 when it came to light that he faked parts of his survival show “Man vs. Wild,” including staying in a luxury hotel when he was supposed to be surviving in the wilderness.

However, seeing Shaq in the Adirondacks will likely make the show worth tuning in for.
