A New York man is listed in serious condition after being bitten by a shark while swimming on Cape Cod yesterday.

According to a report on Boston.com, the victim, William Lytton, 61, of Scarsdale, New York, was airlifted to a Boston hospital, where he was being treated for deep puncture wounds to his torso and leg.

Lytton was reportedly wading about 30 yards off Long Nook Beach in Truro, Massachusetts, when he was bitten by the shark. He was able to stagger to shore, dazed and bleeding.

He is the first person to be attacked by a shark off the Massachusetts coast since 2012.
