A skier participating in a Make-A-Wish fundraising event at New Hampshire’s Wildcat Mountain died Monday morning after falling over a 60-foot drop.

According to an article on WMUR.com, the skier, Samuel Moore, 34, of North Conway, New Hampshire, lost control near the bottom of the 5 Corners trail around 9:30 a.m. After falling, he tumbled down the trail and fell over a 60-foot drop. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A report on NECN.com said Moore was participating in the 100,000 Vertical Foot Challenge fundraising event in which skiers and riders are challenged to log a total of 48 runs on the Lynx Trail to achieve 100,000 vertical feet over nine hours, non-stop. That leaves an average of 4.5 minutes to complete each run.
