One of the great things about living in a place with plenty of public transportation like New York City is you don’t need a car to get around.

The folks at Curbed New York recently wondered the same thing, and they put together a list of some of the best hiking areas near New York City that you can reach using public transportation.

Among the places included are such hiking gems as Breakneck Ridge, Anthony’s Nose and Surprise Lake Loop.
