New Hampshire residents concerned about Vail Resorts’ takeover of Mount Sunapee ski area will get their chance to be heard on the matter at a public hearing this week.

In June, Vail Resorts announced it was acquiring the operating rights to several ski areas, including New Hampshire’s Mount Sunapee and Vermont’s Okemo Mountain.

However, some people have expressed concern about Vail moving in to Mount Sunapee State Park. New Hampshire’s attorney general office says the deal needs state approval. A public hearing on the matter will be held Wednesday evening at Sunapee Lodge.

At the hearing, some concerned about the acquisition are expected to request that Vail include plans to protect the park’s natural resources and offer affordable outdoor recreation.
