In this short video from Outside Television’s “Season Pass,” New Hampshire native Chris Davenport returns to the White Mountains and brings fellow big-mountain skier and mountaineer Hugo Harrisson with him.

Together, the two face sketchy conditions on Tuckerman Ravine that test their mountaineering skills as much as their skiing ability. Davenport and Harrisson braved slick ice and steep terrain in a ravine littered with hidden obstacles requiring skiers to launch cliffs as high as 25 feet.

At 55 degrees, Tuckerman is steeper than almost any inbound run in North America, and Davenport and Harrisson said it was a test of their technical skills that they don’t experience much out west.
