For trail runners who like their race courses steep and painful, New York’s Whiteface Mountain will host the Whiteface VK on July 8.

Whiteface has more vertical gain than any resort on the East Coast, and the course will see an elevation gain of 3,300 feet in roughly 2.5 miles.

The following day will features a sky race with two steep alpine loops interspersed with a recovery loop.

Organizers say “your legs will be pretty thrashed, your lungs pretty worked, but you’ll have completed a pretty incredible feet.”
