Members of the Friends of the Wapack Trail say they are worried a proposed natural gas pipeline could affect the trail in at least three locations, according to an article on LedgerTranscript.com.
The 21.5-mile Wapack Trail leads from Mt. Watatic in Massachusetts to North Pack Monadnock in Greenfield, New Hampshire. Its rocky ledges afford views of the Boston skyline to the east, Berkshire and Green Mountains to the west and White Mountains to the north.
Advocates for the trail say they are worried the pipeline could close parts of the trail during construction, leave the area in poor condition after construction, and they worry about long-term impacts on the trail.
