A popular beach on the Cape Cod National Seashore was closed Wednesday after a great white shark bit a paddleboard.
According to an article on NBCBoston.com, Marconi Beach in Wellfleet, Massachusetts, was closed to swimmers around 10 a.m.
Paddleboarder Cleveland Bigelow, 69, was on the board when the shark bit it in 3 feet of water roughly 30 yards from the shore. Bigelow wasn’t bitten, but he injured his lower legs when he was knocked onto the board from the force of the shark, which he described as “like getting hit by a truck when on a bicycle.”
He paddled back to shore and alerted lifeguards.
