In this film, “Bryan Zanisnik Goes to the Meadowlands,” Zanisnik – a New York artist – hikes through New Jersey’s Meadowlands landscape, exploring its brackish wetlands, abandoned trail lines and the rocky outcroppings of Snake Hill. He provides a fascinating look an ecosystem roughly the size of nearby Manhattan that is constantly in flux. He used the experience for his work “Meadowlands Picaresque,” which he exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum.
“It’s kind of monumental in its nothingness,” Zanisnik says of the Meadowlands. “This felt like a place that no one ever bothered to mark or map.”
