8-Year-Old Rescued From Killington Chairlift

An 8-year-old snowboarder who was dangling from a chairlift at Killington Resort Wednesday is okay after falling into a catch net.

The dramatic video of the boy falling into the net was captured by Steve Swain, who shared it on Facebook.

The incident occurred on the Ramshead Express chairlift. The boy was riding with three other passengers, and he reportedly was not seated as the lift left the loading area, causing him to slip off the chair.

According to Swain, the boy managed to slip off the quad chair but had his arm behind the bar, which was up when Swain arrived on the scene. He said the other people on the chair had his other arm, but that the child was “dangling pretty far down.”

Swain said the ski patrol did a great job of setting up a catch net that they padded with lift pole pads.

The rescuers reportedly tried putting a rope over the cable and sent a sling up, but it failed to hold him. He slipped out and fell into the net.

He was reportedly unharmed.
