Registration Opens for 2-Day, 40-Mile Maine Paddling Race

Registration is now open for the second running of an epic Maine paddling race.

The Rangeley Oquossoc Adventure Rendezvous — or ROAR — is a two-day, 40-mile paddling stage race that is part of the annual Maine High Peaks Paddlefest.

This year’s race will take place June 21 and 22. The race course winds through the scenic lakes of the Rangeley area.

Day One of the event begins at Rangeley Town Cove Park. Participants paddle across the north side of Rangeley Lake and carry through Oquossoc past the fish hatchery and onto Lake Mooselookmeguntic.

They then continue across Mooselookmeguntic and south along the western shore to Upper Dam. Paddlers then carry around Upper Dam to Richardson Lake and paddle north to finish at Mill Brook Boat Launch. In total, racers paddle 20 miles and carry a total distance of 1.2 miles.

Day Two reverses the course, with participants starting at the Mill Brook Boat Launch and finishing at Rangeley Town Cove Park.

The race includes a wide variety of boat categories, as well as individual racing and relay teams.
