New York officials are warning hikers about dangerous conditions that might make the Pharaoh Lake Trail impassable through the winter.
The New York Department of Environmental Conservation recently issued a notice saying that where the Pharaoh Lake trail crosses the Mill Brook is snowy and covered with water up to shin-deep.
Those conditions will likely remain that way through the winter since the the Mill Brook bog bridge has been removed due to its deteriorating, unsafe condition.
The Pharaoh Lake Trail remains open, but officials say users should be aware of these conditions when crossing or use the DECinfo Locator online map to explore alternative trails to reach Pharaoh Lake.
