Killington Makes Snow on Devil’s Fiddle for First Time in 10 Years

Vermont’s Killington Resort is making snow on a popular — but recently neglected — trail for the first time in more than a decade.

Killington announced this week that its snowmaking guns are firing on Devil’s Fiddle for the first time in more than 10 years.

Devil’s Fiddle is located next to Killington’s Outer Limits. It is a wide trail with an irregular curve, a large rock ledge, and scattered large moguls.

The trail hasn’t seen any snowmaking in years. But Killington replaced 55 sets of air and water hydrants two summers ago, making it easier to make snow.

The signature trail is popular among skiers who have experience skiing on it. And that was evident from the public reaction when Killington announced the development on their Facebook account this week.

“Yes!” posted one person. “Focusing some snowmaking there to make it more reliable shows that new ownership gets it, this is about skiing some great terrain that’s been neglected forever. Awesome move.”

“How awesome is this!!!” wrote another person. “My favorite trail besides Ovation.”

The Devil’s Fiddle trail is currently open. And thanks to the new snowmaking, chances it are will be open deep into spring.
