A Massachusetts man was killed in a skiing accident at Vermont’s Burke Mountain on Monday.
According to Vermont State Police, the man, Shirinian Varter of Watertown, Massachusetts, was skiing with a family member on Burke’s Big Dipper Trail shortly after 3:30 p.m. Varter reportedly lost control and traveled into nearby woods where he struck a tree.
Varter was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the collision. Police said he was not wearing a helmet.
