Citing increasing abuses of its uphill policy and too many close calls with grooming equipment, Maine’s Mount Abram is “tightening up” its uphill policy.
Mount Abram recently announced they are expanding some aspects of their uphill policy to allow uphill access on Wednesdays and extending evening hours until 9 p.m.
But the video announcement on Facebook also said too many people have been ignoring the Mount Abrams uphill policies this winter, and it is “time to tighten things up.”
Saying uphill access is “a priviledge, not a free-for-all,” the announcement said officials will be strictly enforcing their uphill policies, which require an uphill ticket and have day and time access restrictions.
The video announcement emphasized groomer safety, saying they have had way too many close calls this season where skiers skied close to grooming equipment.
“These machines are massive, have blind spots, and do not stop quickly,” said the statement.
The statement also discussed dog etiquette at the mountain, saying people need to pick up after their dog.
