A hiker in Phillipstown, New York, suffered significant injuries when he was struck by a falling tree over the weekend.
According to New York Department of Environmental Conservation officials, forest rangers received a report of an unconscious hiker a mile-and-a-half up the Breakneck Ridge Trail in Hudson Highlands State Park at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3.

The hiker’s partner had called 911 to report the hiker had been struck by a falling tree.
Two rangers arrived at the scene at 4:10 p.m. and park staff, paramedics, and volunteer firefighters were there providing care.
The 28-year-old from Manhattan had regained consciousness, but he was suffering from a skull fracture and broken leg.
Rescuers packaged the hiker into a wheeled litter for transport to an ambulance. Resources were clear at 6 p.m.
