Park officials at New York’s Ward Pound Ridge Reservation have launched a 100-Mile Hike Challenge to celebrate the reservation’s 100th year in 2025.
Challenge participants will aim to hike 100 miles at the park by May 7, 2025. Registration is required and it is free to participate.
Participants who are successful will be recognized at the park’s 100-Year Anniversary Celebration at the reservation on Saturday, May 17, 2025.
Ward Pound Ridge Reservation is the largest park in Westchester County, with 4,315 acres and 35 miles of hiking trails.
The park’s terrain is varied, ranging from deep hollows to ridges 800 feet high. It features hemlock gorges, dry uplands, wetlands, ponds, and two rivers. Visitors can explore meadows, marshes and vernal pools.
Challenge participants will be able to log their miles through the RunSignup website to track their progress.
Ward Pound Ridge Reservation is located at the junction of Routes 35 and 121 South in Cross River. Parking is $5 with a Park Pass, $10 without and is applicable weekends only from Labor Day and before Memorial Day Weekend. Parking fees are daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
