Sugarloaf To Open New Bike Park In Maine On July 4

Maine’s Carrabassett Valley has been one of the Northeast’s best mountain biking destinations for decades.

Now, it’s about to get even better.

Sugarloaf Resort in Maine will open the new Sugarloaf Bike Park on July 4.

New England’s newest bike park introduces lift-assisted mountain biking to Sugarloaf. The park provides 1,050 feet of elevation per lap via the Whiffletree Quad. The machine-built gravity trails are 2.5 to 3 miles long at a mellow grade, while hand-built enduro trails are naturally shorter and steeper.

The resort’s first full build is a 3-mile flow trail that resort officials describe as ideal for intermediate riders. The trail complements Sugarloaf’s existing enduro and downhill race trails, available for expert riders.

The Sugarloaf Bike Park is set to open on Friday, July 4, with lift tickets for as low as $25 a day. A DJ will be on the Beach keeping the beat on Friday, followed by live music from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday.
