Maine’s Sunday River will host its popular annual obstacle race, the Tough Mountain Challenge, on July 29.
The 4-mile race features 16 obstacles and plenty of mud and water.
Competitors will be blasted by a dozen high-powered snowmaking guns, swim through a dirty, slug-infested pond, climb over walls, battle steep terrain and take on an obstacle known as the “Valley of Death.”
While those obstacles may sound challenging – and even frightening – take heart in knowing that one of the race’s “obstacles” is a mid-course beer station.
